How Hearing Works
Here is a short easy video that explains exactly how hearing works.
What Causes a Hearing Loss
Many things can cause hearing loss, such as impacted ear wax, exposure to noise, age, sickness, or a damaged ear drum. There are three different types of hearing losses as well.
Types of Hearing Loss
There are only three types of hearing losses: sensorineural hearing loss, conductive hearing loss, and mixed hearing loss. Sensorineural hearing loss is caused by damage to the inner ear, or nerve pathway. Conductive hearing loss happens when the outer ear and the middle ear are not properly communicating with the inner ear. A conductive hearing loss can be medically or surgically treated. The final hearing loss is called a mixed hearing loss. A mixed hearing loss is a mix of both sensorineural and conductive.
